years and years ago, i remember waking up early.
i remember first switching on the tv and, not comprehending the prime minister's speech, running off to look for breakfast.
then i'd come back in time to catch the float parade. 'how many flowers did they use to make all that?' i'd ask in wide-eyed wonder. the answer was never numerical, only simple and enough to satisfy a mind that was asking but not quite so curious as much as in awe.
well, i haven't revelled in the wonder of a merdeka float parade in years.
growing up in our nation has me staring at more gray area that i never thought of before. reasons to stay include knowing i can make it here simply because the industry is lacking.
but! nations's birthday as it is today, let's not dwell on what's less beautiful, shall we?;)
this year, they finally acknowledged our beautiful tradition of fireworks...
instead of sweeping it under the carpet, they held a fireworks competition. :)
no, i was not there at the actual event to witness it. no, i don't really know much about it...
but i do know that i got the best seats for two last night to witness the usual serenity of the night lit by flamboyent showers of sparks.
i enjoyed every moment of it.
shared sights make moments so much more beautiful.. :)
thank my nation for the peace it still holds thus, for being able to provide such memories..
and thank God for everything else.
Happy Merdeka!
